This mobile community recording activity moves through Black Rock City, showing up at camps, events, on the open playa, and by the ARTery. The title comes from one of the most recognizable lines in the Declaration of Independence, which marks its 250th anniversary in 2026. This project records short conversations about gathering, community, history, and shared futures in this unique moment and place. Grounded in exchange and collective reflection, it contributes to an evolving record documented by the Smithsonian, exploring the truths communities negotiate and share, while affirming citizenship as a practice of participation, responsibility, and care.
